茨木市文化振興財団に移管されリニューアルした「HUB-IBARAKI ART PROJECT」。二年目となる今回は、京都とロンドンを拠点に活動するアーティスト・尾角典子を迎え、大阪では初めてとなる個展を開催します。本プロジェクトは、アーティストが茨木市をリサーチすることを軸に、そこで生まれる学びや気づき、対話をもとに作品が立ち上がる過程を重視しています。 尾角は、イギリスでアニメーションを学んだのち、コラージュを基盤としたアニメーション作家として活動をはじめました。断片を切り取り、重ね合わせ、新しい物語を立ち上げるその方法は、近年のインスタレーションやVRといった多様なメディアへと展開しても、一貫して彼女の制作の根幹にあります。神話や哲学から量子力学などの現代科学に至るまで、幅広い領域への関心をもとに異なる要素を結び直すその姿勢は、常に「コラージュ」という思考に支えられています。 尾角が茨木でのリサーチでまず着目したのは、「堆積層 (地層）」という視点でした。物質や記憶が時間とともに積み重なり、断絶や変容を経て新たな景色を生み出す。そのプロセスを、彼女は「茨木市をかたちづくってきた人々の声」を素材として収集し、コラージュの技法に重ね合わせました。さらにAIという異質な技術を共存させることで、アナログとデジタルが交錯しながら、土や植物が育まれる「庭」のように生成と循環を繰り返す空間を構築します。 人々の声はコラージュの断片であると同時に、この土地と未来をつなぐ層となります。本展では、来場者は単なる観客にとどまらず、この循環を担う一つの要素として加わり、新たな時間の層をともに築いていきます。 会場となる福祉文化会館会館は、長年地域で親しまれてきましたが、まもなく取り壊される予定です。本展を通して来場者に手渡される花の種が、この場所がなくなってもそれぞれの生活の中に芽吹き次の土壌へとつながっていけば幸いです。 HUB-IBARAKI ART PROJECT ディレクター 内田千恵
The HUB-IBARAKI ART PROJECT, renewed by the Ibaraki City Cultural Foundation, enters its second year with a solo exhibition by artist Noriko Okaku, who works between Kyoto and London. This marks her first solo exhibition in Osaka.
The project centers on artists conducting research in Ibaraki City, emphasizing the process through which artworks take shape from the knowledge, discoveries, and dialogues that arise during their exploration.
After studying animation in the UK, Okaku began her practice as an animation artist based on collage. Her method of cutting out and layering fragments to construct new narratives remains at the core of her artistic practice, even as it expands into various media such as installation and VR. Her approach to reconnecting diverse elements, from mythology and philosophy to contemporary science, including quantum mechanics, is consistently supported by a way of thinking rooted in “collage.”
In her research in Ibaraki, Okaku first focused on the perspective of “strata.” Matter and memory accumulate over time, generating new landscapes through rupture and transformation. She collected the “voices of people who have shaped Ibaraki City” as material and wove them into her collage-based methodology. By integrating the heterogeneous technology of AI, she creates a space where analog and digital coexist—an ever-evolving “garden” that embodies cycles of generation and regeneration, much like the soil and plants that sustain life.
These human voices serve both as fragments of a collage and as strata that connect the land to its future. In this exhibition, visitors are not merely audience but become part of this ongoing cycle, contributing to the creation of new temporal layers.
The venue, the Ibaraki City Welfare and Cultural Hall, has long been a familiar place for the local community, but is soon to be demolished. The flower seeds handed to visitors through this exhibition carry the hope that, even after this place is gone, new buds will sprout within each person’s daily life, connecting to the soil of what comes next.
